Race Report-Port Perry Provincial July 15, 2007

It was a clean sweep for Label It Racing at Port Perry. Jason Burke was
on fire going straight to the front in every race he entered.

We were greeted with a big puddle and muddy pits when we arrived due to a big downpour as afternoon practice finished. After a quick perusal of the pit area I was relegated to an outer edge but at least it was dry.

Sunday morning came and the track was groomed to perfection and the extra moisture due to the rain made it perfect. They ran Pro practice first to put some good lines in it. I was on the track myself and loved it.

With the absence of some of the major players at the National out in BC Jay and Adam were even more confident for wins. Although we were missing Mesly, Keast and Chamberlain we still had Hall, Fitzgerald and the return of Gualdy. Burkey decided he needed to points badly and went out and won both Youth class races, the first MX2 race and the first MX1 moto. With a 1-2 start in the second MX2 moto for the Label It riders I was on the sidelines beaming. Unfortunated while leading Jason got a flat front tire allowing Adam to pass for the point position. Once Deakz passed Jay he just took off. Jay fought his way through the rest of the moto to finish sixth.

I was on the line for my last Vet Master moto when it started raining, then raining harder, then harder and then a cold wind came in and it started hailing on us. Our race was called off, mercifully, and I got back to the trailer soaked and freezing but at least not dirty. The rest of the days races had to be cancelled as the poor track was demolished.

As we cleaned up and loaded the trailer the sun came back out and it was a beautiful day for the drive home. Just like entering the pits I had to lock in the 4 wheel drive to get through the puddle leaving the pits. Now it’s time to get ready for the last Nationals that means suspension off to Joe at SSS for freshening, exhausts to Hindle for repacking and motors to Jeff at D4 for inspection and valve adjustments. Jr will put on fresh graphics and we’ll be good to go for Moncton.
